The Time

Udacity has estimated that the course will take three months to complete. This is calculated with the idea of dedicating 10 hours per week. This however, is only an estimate, as you’re able to finish in shorter or longer time if needed.

We highly suggest taking a second to create a plan and/or schedule, one that you can keep up with. This will help you stay on track and keep your knowledge fresh plus, could help keep the cost down. Yep, the time does have something to do with the cost, and we will explain more about that below.

The Cost

Udacity has a different approach when it comes to billing. They create the total based off of the amount of access, where they calculate per month. There is a reason however for the estimated time, a reason that might be of interest to you. This is because there are two ways to pay. Which offer is better for you depends on a few things, one being the amount of time you will take and the other being your budget.

Pay per month

With this option, you can have access for as long as you want, as long as you pay of course. You’ll be charged $359 per month, which can add up. If you think you can finish before the Udacity recommended time, this is a great option, otherwise, you may want to take advantage of Udacity’s deal.

Udacity’s Deal

If you want to go with Udacity’s suggestion, you can pay for three months and enjoy a 15% discount. This drops down the monthly cost to $309, bringing the total for three months a little over $900. This does have to be paid up front but, could be a great deal if you take three months to complete the course.

The Reviews

While the academy has an overall positive position on the web, we thought we’d take a look at how this course ranks. Not just from the website itself but, from learners that have taken the course. Here is what a few of them had to say:

“The DMND program is unmatched. The way the lesson is strategically placed has caused a great impact in my current career as a Digital Marketing Associate at a Digital Communications firm. Before Udacity I was not “trained” in how to set up and properly optimize campaigns. Since becoming a student, I use the lesson on Content Strategy across the board for FB, AdWords, SEO, EVERYTHING. Having a strategy in place and being able to practice with projects took away the fear and the result has impacted real-world campaigns I currently optimize daily.” – Ashley B.

“I completed the Nanodegree program today, and couldn’t be happier. I didn’t know much about digital marketing before the program, but the projects have a natural progression that really helps you understand how you tie the target persona, to the marketing objective, to the marketing channels, etc. You gain real-life experience with Facebook campaigns, AdWords, Google Analytics, MailChimp, to mention a few. It’s not a walk in the park, you really have to put a lot of hours into it, but when you see the results of your Facebook or AdWords campaigns, it’s worth the effort!” – Henning R.

A Look at the Job Market

According to a market analysis completed by Zip Recruiter, the demand for digital marketers is set to increase by 10% by the year 2026. This should come as no surprise, especially since online markets are beginning to explode. This leaves a lot of room for ad campaigns that will get companies the exposure they need to start to amp up their traffic.

As far as salaries are concerned, specialists will see, on average, above $49,000. Of course, this is a market where employees increase in value the more experience they have and the more noteworthy ad campaigns they create. Taking a level up to manager pays, on average, over $65,000 whereas director positions can pay out close to $100,000. This is a great career that offers both stability and competitive salaries, making it ideal.
